Terms and Conditions

Last updated: 18 August 2026

1. Introduction

Oh No! Consequences ("we", "us", "our") is an escape room with a twist: if you fail to escape within the allotted time, you face a consequence that you chose in advance. These terms govern your booking, your game, and your relationship with us.

Read our Privacy Policy and Safeguarding Policy carefully — they form part of these terms.

2. Eligibility

Our games are 18+ only. Players must confirm their age in the survey. We may check ID on the day (no ID, no game).

You may bring up to two spectators to watch your consequence, but they cannot enter the room during the game itself (see survey for details).

3. Booking and Payment

Booking works in three steps:

  1. You complete the survey online (sign-in required).
  2. A human reviews your survey and sends you booking info (date, time, deposit, and any special instructions).
  3. You confirm and pay the deposit. The game is booked.

Deposit: The deposit is £10 per player (waived for early-bird bookings). The deposit covers your room time and the consequence setup.

Full payment: The full amount (£30 per player) is due on the day. Payment can be made by card, cash, or (for groups) bank transfer.

4. Cancellation and Refunds

Both parties have the right to cancel, but the rules differ:

4.1 You Cancel

  • More than 48 hours before your game: Full refund (minus the £10 deposit, unless it was waived).
  • 24–48 hours before your game: 50% refund (you get £15 back, you keep £15 as a "you changed your mind" fee).
  • Less than 24 hours before your game: No refund (you've locked in our time, and we've set up your consequences).
  • On the day (no-show): No refund (we held the room for you).

4.2 We Cancel

  • Force majeure (see section 10): Full refund or reschedule (your choice).
  • Safeguarding cancellation (see section 5): No refund if we detect duress or a player not wanting to play (see Safeguarding Policy).
  • Staff discretion (e.g. weather, power outage, or a staff member's injury): Full refund or reschedule (your choice).

5. Safeguarding and Anti-Bullying

All forfeits must be explicitly consented to via the survey. A one-to-one private consent check is performed before every session (see Safeguarding Policy). We reserve the right to cancel a session without refund if we detect that a player is under any form of duress to take part or does not actually want to play. See our Safeguarding Policy for full details.

Anti-bullying: We will not perform any forfeit for a player that we believe is being bullied by other guests (including partners, friends, or spectators). Bullying includes (but is not limited to): verbal pressure, social coercion, physical intimidation, or any behaviour that makes us doubt that the player is genuinely choosing to participate. If we detect bullying during a session, we reserve the right to cancel the player's forfeits, remove the bullying guests, and/or cancel the entire session (with or without refund, at our discretion).

Staff abuse: Our staff are generally unfazed by protest, squirming, or theatrical meltdown — it's part of the job. However, if any staff member is subjected to verbal abuse (beyond reasonable protest) or physical abuse, staff may immediately end the session and remove all guests from the building. In such cases:

  • The session is ended immediately (no partial refunds, unless staff determine the abuser was not the only guest).
  • All guests are removed from the building (including spectators).
  • The abuser is free to leave (or be escorted out).
  • The rest of the party (if any) may be invited to reschedule (at our discretion).

This right is used sparingly, but when it is used, staff have the final word. No question will be asked, no debate will be had. The building is our space, and our staff's comfort comes first.

6. Liability

You accept the following risks:

  • Consequences are what you chose. You opted in. If you chose the "Pie in the Face", you got the pie. If you chose "Paddling!", you got paddled.
  • Staff discretion applies. Staff may misjudge a situation, make a mistake, or decide to alter/waive a consequence on the day. You accept these risks. See our Safeguarding Policy for the staff discretion clause.
  • Session recordings. By completing the survey, you consent to being photographed and videoed for staff safety. Recordings are required and kept private to your session (see Privacy Policy, section 2.3).
  • General escape room risks. The room contains furniture, props, and (depending on the room) lighting and sound effects. You accept that, in the heat of the moment, you might bump your head, trip, or get splashed with water. Standard escape room risks apply.

7. Session Recordings

By completing the survey, you consent to being photographed and videoed for staff safety. Recordings are required for staff safety and are used to protect both parties in the event of a dispute. Every effort will be made to keep recordings private to your session. They are not used in marketing material. See our Privacy Policy, section 2.3, for full details.

The "Wall of Shame" is a physical display located in our building, visible only to people who enter the building — it is not a digital gallery or a social media feed. See our Privacy Policy, section 4.1.

8. Force Majeure

Neither party is liable for delays or non-performance caused by events outside our reasonable control, including (but not limited to):

  • Weather (e.g. the great flood, or a snowstorm that paralyzes the city).
  • Power outages.
  • Staff illness or injury.
  • Road closures.
  • Acts of God (e.g. the great flood).

In the event of force majeure, you can choose to reschedule or receive a full refund (your choice).

9. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales (or where the escape room is located). Any disputes will be resolved in the local courts.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top of this page tells you when it was last changed. If you play after a change, you're deemed to have accepted the new terms. Significant changes will be communicated via email or the site homepage.
